About the Norfolk Archive Supporter Scheme
Joining the Norfolk Archives Supporter scheme helps to protect and share Norfolk’s archival heritage. It will enable the Norfolk Record Office, and other organisations which care for Norfolk’s archives, to do more in terms of acquiring at risk archives, preservation, improving the discoverability of archives and archive related engagement activities. The scheme is run by NorAH in partnership with the Norfolk Record Office. There are three types of membership; Individual Membership at £25, Organisational Membership at £45, and Gift Membership for £12.
Individual Membership
For an annual cost of £25, individual Membership you will get four daily photographic permits (worth £42) for use at the Norfolk Record Office, with the option of purchasing four additional day licences for £25 for use within the membership year. You and a guest will also be invited to Norfolk Archive supporter events through the year and receive two free places on a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Norfolk Record Office. Where possible, the tour facilitator will try and show something of interest to the tour attendees.
In addition, Individual Members also get a free space on the Norfolk Record Office’s research workshops, which include how to trace your family history, house history and First World War ancestors, saving £5 for each place, and half price on the Norfolk Record Office’s adult craft workshops, saving a further £5 per workshop. Become an Individual MemberOrganisational Membership
For an annual cost of £45, Organisational Membership get seven daily photographic permits, worth £73.50, for use at the Norfolk Record Office, with the option of purchasing four additional day licences for £25 for use within the membership year. The organisation can nominate one or more of its members to use the permits.
In addition, Organisational Members can get 50% off the cost of room hire at The Archive Centre in Norwich, a typical saving would be £120 for a full day hire of the Centre’s main function room which is able to cater for 50 people. Organisational members are also entitled to 20% off archive packaging materials sold by the Norfolk Record Office, subject to their stock levels. Organisational members also get 20% off archivist consultancy time, which equates to a saving of £10.80. Organisational members are also entitled to four places at each Norfolk Archive Supporter event which are held through the year.
Example of Packaging Materials Available to Organisational Members at a Discount
Organisational Members can purchase packs of ten folders for £12, saving 20% on the price offered by the Norfolk Record Office. The folders have three flaps, are made from archival grade Eterno Board, and have external dimensions of 219 x 309 mm. Their depth can be expanded from 0.3 mm to 25 mm. Organisational Members can also purchase packs of ten envelopes for £8, again a saving of 20% on the price offered by the Norfolk Record Office. They are made from buffered archival paper and have external dimensions of 191 x 267 mmm (W x H).

For £12, Gift Membership allows for two places on a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Norfolk Record Office. It’s an ideal gift for anyone interested in Norfolk’s history. Each tour offers the chance to see archives from the NRO’s extensive holdings. Where possible, the tour facilitator will try and show something of interest to the tour attendees. Gift Members will also be invited to supporter events. Gift Membership lasts for a year and can start on either the day of purchase, or a date of your choosing, for example someone’s birthday.
